Music, beauty and perception

I’ve been getting into my new age music a little recently. By new age, I’m not talking about a little bit of twinkly music, I ‘m talking about full on hug-a-tree stuff. I’ve event booked tickets to this meditation concert here. The venue is big, and I’ve heard of the Swamiji who plays and he does sound amazing. The weird thing is, this has come on all of a sudden. I don’t feel like it’s a phase, but I can’t be sure because I’m in it right now, so I’ll only know its a phase when and if it passes. I don’t think that this one is going to pass however, I think it is here to stay. I’ve started listening to Cd’s of people chanting and I’ve this urge to learn to play the flute or sitar. So while all this is happening, my girlfriend has decided that she wants to go and have cosmetic surgery! Seriously though, the timing is just so wrong.
I don’t think I’ve ever been pro changing your body, but having said that as a man I know few people who would knock their girlfriend for wanting to have breast enlargements. Now a few months ago, I probably would have given her a lift to the clinic. My sense of beauty though has changed. I no longer think that being blond and busty is the be all and end all. (more…)
